Was going to use Classic Coatings which I have used before on 2st and was very happy but they no longer take walk ins. Have my doubts as to whether it would work as well as on a 2 stroke pipe anyway since temps are much higher I believe. I tried the Header wrap route and although majority held up well one spot by the bend by flex joint disintegrated. The rest was easily removed by just running a screwdriver under it. So wrapping is out. In researching it's come down to either Jet Hot or Swaintech coatings. Anyone have experience with either of these?

Swaintech has been around forever. Didnt they invent temp coating ? I have no personal use though.

Hey, arent we supposed to see the track here?
What have you done?

What have you done?

Did that last year. Hence the concern over ceramic coating! That header is glowing cherry red on a good pull and fuel tank is real close. Sure like it closed though. I have vents in Batwing also. Goal was to get heat out the back since air is flowing in front. To me the open hole and track spinning forward at top would force air to fight air coming in from front also Way cleaner engine and heat wasn't a issue last season with wrap. Noticed the Sidewinder closed tunnel also other than a few louvers.Hey, arent we supposed to see the track here?

I used jet hot on my srx. Very pleased. Had to reclutch after jet hot if that tells you anything...

Swaintech does the Whitelightning on that Turbo. Definitely leaning toward that coating. Yes see what the guys say as far as it loading up. If it works there header should be sure thing. Thanks Studroes.

Got it back finally! Swaintech White Lightning. $225 and it took more than a month but it's supposed to be the best. True ceramic. It's thick on there and seems very durable. Is a rough finish so not fancy like the silver stuff I have previously had done. Will see how it works.

Since it's fairly thick, it may have some sound deadening qualities as well. It will be interesting to see how well it works out for ya!

That looks great cannandale. When I was talking to josh at mpi about my turbo bracket, he asked if guys where coating the headers. I'm going to get a price from the performance shop here to ceramic coat my SL header.
Did you use as piece of sheet metal to cover the hole where the old header was in the tunnel?

Thanks. Yes just a piece of aluminum sheet. I still use the shield on top but put a bunch of holes in side of it for air circulation along with extra heat tape on tank. So far all is good but be careful. That looks great cannandale. When I was talking to josh at mpi about my turbo bracket, he asked if guys where coating the headers. Hmm. Hard decision. Lots of cooling leaving the hole open, but ice build up will be bad.Thanks. Yes just a piece of aluminum sheet. I still use the shield on top but put a bunch of holes in side of it for air circulation along with extra heat tape on tank. So far all is good but be careful.
Is that why you coverd the hole, ice?

Header looks awsome!!
Hummm, just 1 more mod to think about.

No issue with ice buildup stock. I just didn't like all the crud track throws into engine and engine bay. The Straightline/ulmer header allowed clearance to block off the hole. Always wanted to wrap the header to reduce heat but knew that all the crud and water thrown by track would ruin a wrap very quickly. Wrapping noticeably reduced heat under the hood a lot. Hoping this coating does as well and is more durable. May even wrap this coating if needed. Will be wrapping the silencer also. So basically just trying to get engine compartment as cool as possible.Hmm. Hard decision. Lots of cooling leaving the hole open, but ice build up will be bad.

Nice! Coating header should be good for us running turbo? I have the MCX header.
