I helped a friend change his oil on a 2008 Nitro. Got done and tried to adjust the chain adjuster and we
could not finger tight the bolt. We removed the bolt and cleaned it up, but still could not finger
tight it.
Other take the chain cover off to view the bolt is there any ideas on how to adjust it.

Are you saying you can't turn it by hand? Like the internal threads are bad? The bolt should turn freely. Might need to run a tap thru.

you can pull the rubber plug above it and use a screw driver to take slack up and see where the bolt is. you want it just less than tight

You can barely turn it with your fingers. Can't tell when it gets tight
I like the tap idea

the oring makes it snug. as I said, the rubber plug above it, a screwdriver to pry the tensioner, then make sure the is a hair of slack between bolt and tensioner, couldnt possibly be easier or more accurate

What he did was made a short shaft, then removed the adjuster bolt. Put in the shaft so it pushed the adjuster back
and measured the shaft length. Then a small adjustment
good proof two, three, heads are better than one
