I need to know what the thread size is. If someone can take a thread guage and tell me how many threads per inch. I believe its metric. Either 1.25 or 1.5. Thanks.

Sorry the bolt I'm talking about is the one that holds the bottom gear on the drive shaft . The one that is allways breaking !

Found my anwser it is a 1.25 if anyone needs to know . If you are wondering why I wanted to know this Extracting the broke off bolt turned out to be a bit of a nightmare when my ez-out broke off in the bolt , so we had to drill the bolt completely out of the drive shaft and needed to figure out what tap to use to re-tap it to clean up the threads in the shaft a bit .

I'm in the same boat...I think I got most of the easy out cleaned out...where you able to drill the bolt out while it was still on the the sled or did you have to use a drill press? Did you use heat?? I'm hoping a better easy out will do the trick as I don't want to pull the whole shaft.

Had to pull the shaft . I brought the whole axle to work and let the tooling guys have at it . I don't know exactly what they did but they ended up having to drill it out to almost the same diameter as the bolt then ran a tap into it to get the rest out/clean up the threads. The worst part is this was on a buddys sled and i thought it would be no problem beacuse when I did mine in came out so smooth I probably could have used a reverse drill bit. Hope this helps a bit and good luck.

went through it last year. drilled in place, ending with undersize left hand bit. got the treads out in a spiral. I wouldn't expect tapping to work.
whatever you do, be sure to use the spacer fix as posted. been doing all makes like that since. huge design problem, with all makes
