After a jackshaft collar update and bearing replacement I now have a small chain case leak. Couple of drops over night. I noticed there was some sealant (may be from the factory) on the case when I was cleaning it up. The seal was in good shape so I reused it. Is there a trick here or should I use RTV gasket maker on it as well as the seal?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think RVT is necessary when the seal is installed correctly. I've had mine apart a few times and it doesn't leak. You may need a new seal.

What seal are you talking about, the cover or shafts?

A new shaft seal is around $10 and the cover $40 ish :o| what a bummer! best thing is to get ALL NEW seals take her all apart AGAIN and change them...3 in total, 1 lower and 2 upper and I would also change the covers gasket at the same time. ;)!

here are part#
93102-40367-00 upper (engine bay)
93102-35473-00 upper (brake side)
93102-35318-00 lower
93210-12131-00 Reverse Lever "O" ring
8FA-47558-00-00 Cover Gasket

Shaft seals are new when I changed the bearings. The case rubber seal was reused and I suspect that is where it is leaking. I do not like the idea of using RTV and you guys have confirmed this is not usually necessary. Guess it is off to get a new $40 case gasket. damn

clean up around the chaincase , its not uncommon to have a little oil sit in the chassis and drip down. If its only a few drops and stops you may not have a leak at all
