Changed my chain case oil with Yamaha chain oil and its reading a little low, can I add a small amount of synthetic chain oil to top it up?

I have read that mixing conventional oil with synthetic oil in an engine is no problem, they both lubricate, so I would suspect chain case would be the same. It would be like when you decide to start using synthetic after 1500 miles, you will always have a few cups left in the engine of the old stuff. Doesn't seem to be an issue.
