Is the Rx1 chain a standard 15 wide like Polaris? I believe the stock chain is 70 link, if so what would be the right length for 22/38?

Toolman, the 22-38 combo which would give you a 1.73 ration requires a 68 link chain. The stock is a 70 link chain.

Thanks alot. I heard somewhere that the Rx chain is the same size as the Polaris does anyone know for sure. Last tim I checked Yamaha wanted about 200 bucks for a new chain.

Toolman, not sure about the chain being the same as the Polaris but I just checked Maxxium Performace and they have the 68 link chain for $90 US. I'm sure Pioneer probably has then to but just wanted to let you know they are cheaper than $200.

Hey toolman,
You can run the 22/38 combo with a 70 link chain. I know the book says 68, but trust me you can.

I ran the 22/38 last year for a while with the stock 70 link chain, yes it works but man is there alot of chian wrap around that tensioner. I acquired a 21 tooth this year so if I go to a 68 than it should work for both. It appears that this is a thirteen wide according to my dealer. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know if the chain off a 98 700 XTC would work on the RX-1? I just remembered I have a 68 link chain as well as some smaller gears and was now wondering if I can use the chain to lower my gears on the RX-1. I know the gears will not work but was wondering about the chain.

Found on the Erlandson Performance website that even though the Polaris is a 3/4 wide it is different than a Yamaha 3/4 wide. Don't know what is different but they said it wouldn't work.
