It's pretty difficult to get that bearing out without removing the jackshaft....which means the gear box has to come off. It's not hard but if it's your first time make sure you keep all the parts laid out in the exact order that they came off (put a zip tie through them). There is instructions in the tech section with pictures if you want to get an idea of what's involved.

Go to the TY home page, then tech pages, then snowmobile tech, then track. There you will see a write-up about the bearing change.

Even if you are lucky enough to get the bearing out without removing the jackshaft there is a tapered sleeve behind it that may hard to get off the shaft. I believe the design was updated in 2005 to have a tapered sleeve with a locking nut which is better. When I did this job I got an aftermarket bearing kit that came with all 4 bearings and all the seals, and I upgraded the locking sleeve.

While you are changing the sealed brg behind the sec clutch, you really should change the brg below it on the driveshaft.
I just did this on my nytro because the locking nut had backed off the bushing and stripped out all the threads. It really wasn't that bad. Open up chain case, remove top sprocket and pull shaft through to secondary side. Be carefull of spacers behind chaincase that might fall off when pulling the shaft through, a magnet and extra set of hands are helpful. I like to take pictures of everything as I take it apart in case I have a brain cramp putting it back together.
P.S. Locking nut $60 at dealer, bearing $40!
Talk about brain cramp, just realized I'm in the RX forum, not the RS forum! Might be a little different on yours.

Nope, same thing here and I had a problem with the locking ring too so I ended up going back to the 03 version and so far so good. Both designs suck IMHO.
