I'm wanting to get a better ski for deep snow running for my attak. I have the stock skis set up with shims and ski savers. They dart very little. I'm happy with it on the groomed trails. My problem is when I go off trail into the deep stuff. The front end just plows untill I get the speed up. I do about 60% trail and 40% off. I want a better ski for the deep stuff and was just wondering if I got a set of Yamaha mountain skis and set them up the same as my stock skis (shim and ski saver), would they still work on the groomed trails the same as stock skis. I'm retired and have to watch the money so new skis are out. Has anyone done this and what are your impression of the handling on groomed trails.
I personally feel they work better on the trails than the stock skis. I have the Bergstrom Triple Points and Ski Savers with the skis shimmed. Love my clown feet as my friends call them.
The yamaha mountain skis will devolp a push in 3-4 in of fluff on the trail when other skis will not, and found this to be the case on a few different sleds with different riders. Other than that they work great but for 60% on trail Simmons might be an option as well
