Mine is now broke with 1200 miles on it . The housing broke . It is a plastic clear hose used as a housing for the cable then the ice just pulls out the cable. The dealer did give me a new one over the counter. That tells me if they have them in stock they must break fairly often. Mine was completely out of the black rubber boot.
I'm on # 3 in 9000 miles,.....BUT,... probably was running with broken ones for miles in between finding them, yet no new and improved ones offered up from yammie,...SHAMEFUL...a simple steel housing similar to a speedo cable would easily strengthen those cables so they aren't as disposable as kleenex.
