Has anyone tried the child safety grip on their Apex? It is the grip that attaches to the fuel filler neck and held by the cap.

I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy.. :sled1:
If I want to go my kid has to come too, thought it would give them something to hang on to. Besides looks, any reason why you wouldn't use it?

I fostered the love for snowmobiling in both of my girls by riding them early using a handle bar rig I made that was integral to the gas cap. Both girls rode hundreds of miles in front of me with their own bars to hold on to with never a problem until . . .

Last year was the last and I was pulled over in Quebec for having her in front of me. No ticket. It was the last ride on the last day and 200 yards from the trailer.

I never heard of anyone being pulled over for that before. I'm in New Brunswick and the trail patrol has never said anything about my daughter siting in the front. Different areas, perhaps different patrol officers may enforce this.

I had ideas to make a different rig that was attached to the gas tank shroud but never got around to it. You can try a mountain strap and when I researched marketing the idea I found a guy was offering something similar that attached to riser which I find less desirable.

I was in Quebec City. For the record I read all of the law that I could find when I got home and I could find no specific prohibition of having someone ride in front of you but it was moot at that point.

Reason is if you hit something you crush your kid! I don't think it is illegal in Canada but is in some states. I rode my kids in front of me and later behind when they where older.

Everyone knows the risk. Anyone here over a certain age probably sat in the lap of a parent or grandparent and "drove" the car. Risk is everywhere. Until a certain age and size managing the child's safety with them in front of you while managing the risk of hitting something I and most others are capable of.

I was stopped a few years back with my son on the back of my sled by a Michigan State Trooper, she told me you cannot ride two people on a single seat snowmobile. I told her we have done it for years and the DNR has never stopped us for it, well she didnt like that to much so she wrote down my drivers license information and said I would get a ticket the next time I'm caught. That was about 7 years ago and we havent rode double since.
