I've been trying to work through a hand warmer issue for the last 2 seasons. First I assumed it was the crappy setup from factory. So I Got yamaheaters and that didn't fix it. Rockmiester exchanged the yamaheater unit thinking it was the unit, but the problem still exists. I have tested the leads going to the grips I'm getting 6.7 ohms across the pair. Tested them to ground and no continuity.

Now that I have the Yamaheater with the led light I've been able to see when they are working or not. If i have them on in reguler mod I will get an error code 81 indicating an open or short circuit. With it in yamaheater mode it will work but not how it's supposed to. They only get hot when I'm staying at a steady speed like above 40mph, but takes about 3 miles for the yamaheaters to turn on steady. Once they are on steady in YH mode I can switch them over to the regular settings and they will be fine until I come to a stop. I will get an error code 81. after that its hit or miss when the YH will come back on.

I'm assuming its somthing in the connectors back to ECU. I'll be tearing into the harness today trying to locate any wiring issue. Thought I would get some input on known issues and what tests I can do to figure this out.

I get a code 81 when my sled idles at less than 1500. once the sled warms up it idles around 1600 to 1700 and the code goes away. its an intermittent problem.
