Close up pic of the $8300 cross country front end kit

I hope they do it. they would sell a lot of units to us nytro die-hards.

any more pics? especially the insides?

Why are all the people in the know so coy about all of this?
Cuz yamaha said they had to be...... or else!! :die

I found the pic on the internet. I have no idea why the XC racers are being so secretive? Not like an a-arm front end with improved geometry is revolutionary. The Apex and Vector both have decent front ends.

I'm guessing Yam is walking a thin line with patents. They set the pricing of the kit so high that nobody in their right mind would buy them, while still allowing them to do some racing in some classes. If they made them widely available and the design is "close" to other OEM's they would have a lawsuit on their hands in short order.

I can be into Trail Tank and 128" relocate kit ( with track ) for less than $1400....which leaves $6900 for a-arms, spindles, sub-frame and a couple other parts...and no spot for a sway bar to mount....that's alot of coin for what appears to a be a " race only " set up

For yamaha to race the front end they had to produce a couple thousand kits if they made that many and put a price tag on it. However unless you have a race resume and are being sponsored by yamaha you aren't getting your hands on this kit. As for the true price I'm pretty sure that they are offering it at a huge discount to the racers. I just hope that yamaha is listening and will either offer this kit to the public or use the technology on their future sled. As for copying off other brands, I'm believe that this frontend has been used for a couple of years (different versions but still the same concept). So have they actually copied or did the other guys copy when they saw what yamaha was racing with (I don't think there is a problem with this).

The story I've heard for them to race XC with the kit is they had to produce 50 kits, provide a part number and offer them for "sale". They then went and raced in the USCC stock classes with this kit and protests were filed because it was a BS production part. When the public can't buy them, that is not a production part. Yamaha was trying to make their Nytro competitive on the cheap for the stock classes. The other OEM's are racing sleds in the stock classes that met the minimum build numbers (300-500) and are available to the public either as a consumer sled or a limited build race sled. Their race sleds are available to anyone who fills out a resume. The race sleds are allocated based upon your experience and results. If you race or have recent race experience you will almost always be accepted.

For Yamaha to try and equal their footing in the stock classes by offering a kit that probably cost them around $1500 and then charge $8,300 is BS. The other 3 OEM's race sleds all cost around the same money as the kit! So if you are an OEM and are selling a complete sled at a big discount to racers you are going to get upset if Yamaha is allowed to race in the same classes just by "selling" some parts.

This front end has been around in various forms for years. I'm sure patents play into this but how is it that Cat has come out with 7 different a-arm configurations since '90 and Yamaha can't offer something new on the consumer level? It is obvious that the stock Nytro is not competitive in the stock classes. Yamaha's recent wins in XC have been on lake ice or in the regional COR series that didn't ban the kit in the stock classes. None of the big name USCC racers attended the COR events so the big wins Yamaha posted weren't impressive to anyone who follows racing. Yamaha's actions this season have shown me why so many people in the racing community do not care for the way Yamaha does business or tries to bend the rules to compete.

The sled in the fore ground has alot more going on then just "that kit" where is the exhaust? The size of the running board tubes look large enough to have coolant running through them?
I hope they do something with the sled in the next year or 2. I have only rode my sled once this season and have wore out all the new front end parts I replaced. :o| I hope whatever they do its a little tougher than previous ventures.

I do like the spare belt holder location!!!! ;)!

Looks like Ross Erdman took 2nd in the cross-country race today and Ben Lindbom took 1st. "at a true uscc cross-country course!" Maybe the reason They got booted from the stock class is the redheaded step child is scared of what a four stroke is capable of. Whats next, ban a four stroke from racing a two stroke?
