2018 50th LE fighting a low boost 18.2 max regardless of outside temp on 300hp closed loop. Max rpms 8500. Start of season 8850. Listing the items i've checked so far:
New plugs.
Clutch rollers/bushings/springs
Secondary full inspection
Swap out 3bar map sensor
Fresh belt
Flex joint pipe from manifold inspected and siliconed
Latest firmware updated
Unplug 02 sensor to revert back to canned tune
Check for condensation in map sensor hose
Sled has 5500 miles.

I’ve had Hurricane closed loop tune for 2 years now and sled runs awesome. The only thing changed this year was I went with TD 3 inch stock mod muffler because Hurricane out of trail muffler. Had to play with clutching again. As in add weight but sled rocks!

How do you the 3” stock mod what was on it before.

i had same issue last year ...chased for a month could not get it to go over 8800 most was 8650 then lightened up everything and still no rpm.... turns out the chain skipped a tooth on the timing.....very very easy too do just turning the engine slightly clockwise while doing clutching change will jump the tooth. mine now has manual tensioner and it wont jump any more.

Surprised you didn't hurt the motor running that way Max

Do you have data logging to see if it’s pulling timing? I just looked at one of my data logs and I run 18.5ish psi on the 300 tune. Sometimes a bit more sometimes a bit less, but never seen 18.7psi. Half a psi is not going to make the sled lose 350rpm.

it did after but not from that, it puked som anti freeze out one day and then it caused an air pocket in head and i nuked it. its a brand new rebuild now, but the skipped tooth was found when TD took apart .

Had the D&D stock mod and switched to full 3” TD inlet and outlet. D&D definitely quieter at idle and when going through super tight trails, the 20 - 30 mph stuff the TD is louder. More of a throaty roar at that speed but anything after 30mph let’s say over 4000 rpms, it’s as quiet as D&D. Not stock level of course but I find once around 50 mph, it’s mostly wind and track noise. Hope that’s a good explanation.

Well I'm happy to report my issue has been found. Oil caked inside the hoses from the waste gate solenoid causing issues with waste gate opening and closing. This was mentioned in here by one of the members so thank you for that and thank you totally yamaha membership as a whole. Marc/ mike/ and others are an asset to this community. Long live the 998!
