OK - Most say there is no adjustment for the clutch alignment on these 4 strokes. Then why do the engine mounts have a threaded insert (that is adjustable) in each of them? I am shure it is to center the engine in the chasis but I believe it could and can be used to adjust offset. Has anyone played with this adjust to align thier clutch?

The engine does have a limited amount of movement available at the mounts just as you have indicated. However if offset is the only measurement you want to change, it is much faster and easier to do so by adding/removing shims behind the secondary as the manual recommends.

But if you get into center to center measurements or angle alignment then your only option is to move the motor.

Or swapping out a bulk-head.

alinment

there is enuf ajustment for alinment in the rx 1- apex to kill clutching and distroy drive belts. so mutch so that some and my self have installed moter tesioners to stop this. there is allso a hidden ajustment in the right rear moter mount. you have to partly remove the rear bolt and if you look inside the hole there is a large slot for a screw drive or chizel to turn this can be used as well to ajust paralel .

Just take out all the shims on the shaft and let the secondary self center, Been doing this to all my sleds since the 70s works great.

yes thats what i do with the secoundary as well and have been doing since the 70,s as well still works to day. ;)!

I put a clutch alignment on my rx1 after mounting the motor. We could NOT get it lined up perfectly either. I just left it about 1/8" out of square to the secondary. I could not find any other way to make it perfect.

familyman, there is a threaded nut inside the right rear motor mount on the bulkhead. if you remove the nut from the long bolt that goes through the bulkhead, and pull the bolt out about 6 inches, you can look in and see the back of it. you can turn it clockwise, this will make it move towards the clutches and snug up the motor in the rear mount.when you look in the hole you will see 2 slots, too wide for a flat screwdriver, but a small flat chisel will work. by using this adjustment you should be able to get your engine and clutches paralel.
