I bought Ulmers clutch alignment tool and I think I've opened a can of worms. My alignment seems way off. My primary to secondary alignment with secondary pushed towards motor is off by 1/16" to 3/32. The front of the secondary touches before the rear, which is opposite of the way it should be. Center to center is off as well by 3/16". How bad is it to re-align the clutches? Does anyone have any detailed instructions? I'll give Allen a call but they left earlier today.

you gotta mess with the motor mounts....I just reinstalled my fresh motor i rebuilt and there are adjustements on them....

best to look at the shop manual

Thanks for the input. I found a few good topics on the adjusting. I have a service manual, but they seem very vague on the adjustment issue. Looks like I'll have to tear her down a little and make the best of it.

Thanks snowarrior, that was one of the articles I found.

thats normal i have seen lots with this problem just losen of all three mounting bolts and inside you will find a bushing with a large slot in it you will need to ajust them till the tool drops over the jack shaft . then set your off set. set up like it is will cause wonky clutching problems. while you there check your belt side clearnce. :flag:

I'm sick as dog rightnow so i'm just reading the forums on the laptop. I went into the garage and ripped all the panels off so i could see the motor mounts. When I feel better,I'll take the airbox off so I can get into the bolts better. If I'm reading this correctly, you have to take the front bolts out to get to the adjusters which you can adjust with a large flat screwdriver or makeshift tool?

right you are. the rear long bolt goes right through the motor with the nut on the oil tank side. remove nut, tap bolt back about 3 inches and when you look in you will see slots in a threaded bushing. loosen all three before making adjustments.
