Guys, when comparing clutching/gearing setups you must consider results based on a apples to apples basis. Many times the way My particular sled is setup it would certainly be possible to be top ended by a stocker based upon the fact that My sled may be setup for 0 to 100 MPH. If you want to setup for top end, then thats what you do. I am of the belief to get a happy medium. Races are rarely run from a "on the roll" basis. The biggest and most important part of winning a race is to win the holeshot and continue pulling. If you dont win the holeshot, playing catch up can be very difficult unless you have lots of motor. Why is it so many RX-1 owners had problems with the likes of the Firecat? But the RX-1 top ends it? Top end is not the deciding factor when trying to increase perfromance, your 0-100 MPH range is the factor. With that said, jtssrx and myself have very similar setups and we both have excellent holeshots, midrange and have both seen speedo readings in excess of 135 MPH.
Bottom line is if you are happy with the performance of your sled, then leave it alone. But if your tired of loosing when you pull onto a lake, then its time to do something about it, and the cheapest way to do it is to properly clutch your sled...BBY
