Has anybody installed a clutch kit on there Nytro? I am looking at the following kits: Bender, Hauck, or Ulmer. All three are about the same price ($350-$400). Do the clutch kits really increase the mid-range or top-end speed? I am looking to get a couple MPH faster on the top-end so would the clutch kit help?

PERFORMANCE CLUTCH KITS PIONEER PERFORMANCE

Bruce Schrader has been tuning clutches since 1978. His experience has given him a great understanding of how the centrifugal snowmobile clutch system works. These clutch kits are designed specifically for the performance minded trail rider, looking for the best possible acceleration while maintaining the back-shift needed when going through the bumps, or coming out of a corner. All kits are designed under real snow conditions, and include all the necessary components and instructions for easy installation. The RX-1 kit is an excellent combination of acceleration, and back-shift, while maintaining the engine braking and low speed belt grip.

New this year we have an excellent clutch kit for both the Apex, Vector, and Nytro. Both kits feature new weights, rivets, primary spring, billet helix, and the Nytro also comes with a new secondary spring. Both kits dramatically improve acceleration, both standing and roll on. Also trail response corner to corner, and back-shift are improved, making both of these sleds more fun to ride.

Thanks for the reply! Will this kit work on the 2008 Nytro?

yes
call brure PIONEER PERFORMANCE

I called Bruce at Pioneer Performance (716) 496-8800 and he said his clutch kit is not yet ready for the 08 Nytro. Maybe in Jan-Feb 09 it will be available as he should have everything dialed in by then. I respect Bruce for his honesty as he is not trying to make a quick $ and market the product too early!

If you're looking for a bolt in kit my first choice would be to check with Dynamo Joe (http://www.mxzx-revzone.com/). Last I knew he was putting together a kit for the Nytro. His kits for the Rev's were nothing short of amazing. I've also heard nothing but good things about Ulmers. Turk (on this site) is also very knowledgable about clutching.

I had a Pioneer kit for the RX1 but never really had a chance to try it. I should see if I can sell it.

turk set my drag and fly on my nytro and what a huge difference .these are made by heelclicker.turk is the man when it comes to clutching.he is also the one that does the cluthing on my turbo rx1.i dont think i would of won all these snow drag races without his clutch set ups .he is a smart man.

I have not had a chance to take my sled out yet, but I went with the Hauk set up on mine. Between the reputation for racing, and his sleds; I figured how bad could it be. Pat is very helpful and knowledgable about building fast sleds. Both him and Titus were a great help when building my sled. Good luck with what ever choice you make :letsnow:

Pioneer kit read --"rivets".
Can't adjust weights without pounding out/in rivets.
Ulmers stage #1 and #2 have the Supertip weights that are very adjustable.
I used a Ulmer kit in my Apex GT and it screamed but was trailable.
Top end gains mabey but you will get there faster with most "kits".
If you want speed get the kit with the gear change to get a bit more on top.
The FX Nytro should respond pretty good with just a gear change as the stock clutching pulls pretty hard and you will be next to or ahead of many sleds in a shorter run.

I bought the hauck get er dun kit & got the clutching thrown in for free; even tho i didn,t want it. I bolted everything in on a 100% broken in motor & the clutching was way out to lunch...not even close. I felt sorry for someone that paid big $$$ for this kit & did not know how to tune cus the clutching was way off. Rpm,s wre about 6-800 rpm,s under where they shoulda been. Might have been fixed by now but as a straight bolt-in it was way out!!! B-patch...why in the hell would you buy a clutch kit from a ski-doo guy that tunes tra clutches(dynamoe joe) which is massively different then a yammie clutch? I have 3 doo buds running his stuff & it no work so well!!! That is like me telling a guy on his 08 800 mxz how to tune his tra primary? why????? The guy maybe knows his way around a ski-doo tra clutch.

Thanks for all the replies! Turk I thought the same thing with the B-path post (Doo)??? I still am not 100% sure I want to change the stock clutch as I do not want to spend a lot of time getting the clutch dialed-in! If I can get a bolt-on kit that will increase acceleration and not need constant attention then I would likley add the kit.
