Ok...so I ran my sled (05 RX-1) stock last year. I put about 2600 miles on it. Now that some of you have put some miles on with various clutch kits I have a couple of questions.

First off, I have not had a lot of time due to work to really research this but I have seen "Matt" mentioned on here for clutching. I have used Goodwins kits on my last 2 yami's and really liked the results. He is not far from me and I use him to rebuild my shocks. So my question is this:
Who is Matt and what are your opinions of his and any other of the clutch kits you have tried including Goodwins? I have seen a few used Bender kits on Ebay lately and wondered if people were not happy with them?

And what do you guys think of the roller secondarys? Are they worth the bucks?
Just trying to get the scoop before I make a decision on what to buy.

By the way, I did do a search for clutch kits and like 3500 threads came up. So I figured I would just make # 3501 instead of trying to read all of that.

Thanks for the input!

Did you read this thread? www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=17755

Here is an easy way to get the search results down to a limited number of threads. What you could have done is:
1) enter clutch and kit and 05 in the Search for Keywords
2) limit the Forum to RX General Forum since you are looking at 05 models
3) limit Search Previous to 1 Year since anything older would not apply to 05 models
By doing this, your list of 3,500 matching threads drops to 155. ;)!

For your questions:
Matt = BlueByYou2000 and runs The Speedshop at this link http://www.thespeedshop1.com/. He sells performance products, including clutch kits from several manufacturers. He offers great customer service and stands behind his products, which is why he gets so many positive comments and support.

There are only 29 threads on the Team roller secondary. Some positive and negative posts. Probably best to read each of them and then decide yourself.

Not taking a shot at you, just trying to help you use the search more effectively because looping through 3500 threads is not reasonable.

Matt is indeed the owner operator of the speed shop. If you deal with him you wont be disappointed. AWSOME ;)!

Swiss,
Thanks. I appreciate the info and advice on the search tool. I guess I just did not take the time to look closer at how I can search.
And Black...I have heard all good about Matt. I will have to give him a call.

I was just also looking for opinions since a season has pased and a new one is here. Now that some of you have had some seat time and have had the chance to run their set ups I was looking for opinions.

Thanks

YOu could also try Allen Ullmer. I hear his stuff makes it move. No personal experience. ;)!

Ullmer, CPR, Matt's setup, Goodwin, all are good for clutching. If you give someone a call they can answer a lot of questions.

As for roller secondaries, some say they are worth it, some don't. You should be able to get the stock secondary to perform just as good.

I run a Hauck Magnum roller secondary, stock primary with OSO spring. Made a big difference in backshift and feels like a lot smoother transition between RPMs while cruising. I had to send in my secondary and have Hauck machine / install the roller onto teh Yammi sheaves. I think I paid around $400.00 total, don't remember exactly.

Stay away from anything that says HEELCLICKER or HAMMERTIME as they have a tendency to explode causing damage and forcing you onto a towstrap for the ride home.

Matt is as good of a guy to deal with as you'll be able to find. All of the exotic parts I need I get through him because I know that he'll help me right through it to make it perfect.

What you will find with Matt's set up is no herky/jerky downside totally trailable. I put a Cudney kit on my REV and took it off after a day and went back to stock, same happened on my ZR900. Great kits for drag racing but not trail riding. Matt's kit was perfect for all conditions and really smoothe.

Ya know, it's funny how the biggest ads are the ones to avoid. My in-laws hired a contractor to remodel their kitchen. He did stupid stuff like putting a cabinet over top a breaker box. Then he couldn't get a cabinet to fit between a partition and the outside wall so he hammered it in, busting all the sheet-rock. He also installed a window in the closet, instead of moving it over. YES he's being sued - by many people. When I thumbed thru the yellow pages, he had the biggest ad. Same thing with the snowmobile mags - Henceforth, stay away from SUPERTORQUER.

I have used Goodwin in the past and never will again. Poor quality kit, poor service and stock set up was faster. Ulmer racing has an excellent kit and service, you will not be disappointed. :4STroke:

Thanks for all the responses guys. I'm wondering Oak Hill...what clutch kit/sled did you get from Goodwin? I have used one of his on a viper and one for a SRX and I think both worked well. Big difference from Stock. Just curious what sled the kit you were not pleased with was for. I know he does a lot for the Doo's as well.

I think I will look into Matt's and CPR's stuff before I make a final call.

I would never use godwinagain.I believe Matt sells both Ulmer kits and cpr kit's.There both great kits and will outperform any other companies out there.

I'm surprised that you guys had bad experiences with Goodwins stuff. I have never really heard anything negative on his stuff until now.
I will check with matt and do some brain picking...

I sell Goodwin kits, and they use Polaris weights with pin adaptors. Gregg himself said that the stock setup is easy to make out accelrate, but it will hurt top end.

Personally, I am using the new DPYR dalton weight with GREAT results. Run what everyone else is running and you will be as fast as everyone else.
