Hey guys, I'm not that good with clutches and wanted to check with you guys to get the proper procedure for cleaning clutches. While prepping my sled for the weekend, I've noticed a lot of belt dust, and want to maintain the clutch by cleaning it. Anyone got clutch cleaning instructions for dummies?
Thanks!

Well you can just wipe off what ever you can. I take mine all apart and clean it and put it back together.

Just use good old COMPERESSED air and let her have it! thats pretty well all you can do at every 1000kms or so DO NOT USE ANY LUBRICANTS or SILICONES! keep them nice and DRY and just give them a blow job every so often...
seriously compressed air and watch for any wear or odd noise/rattle, on the sheaves I use HOT SOAPY water like SIMPLE GREEN anything that cuts threw grease, rinse clean and let dry...I have a buddie of mine that puts his cluthes in his DISHWASHER every fall they come out nice & clean! YAM have very good clutches and don't need much attention till 10.000 to 15.000kms.

The little buttons in the secondary also wear out.Probably by 4000mi they should be replaced.

Cannondale,
Is it easy to get at the buttons that need to be replaced? I assume I probably have to take the whole secondary off?
FYI Guys, We are getting 15cm of snow in Ontario/Quebec near Ottawa today. Where I live in the Pontiac, the trails open Thursday. Sweet!!!

Yes its real easy. Not alot of pressure like some secondarys so it goes back together with just your hand.I made a how to somewhere here last year.

Cannondale,
When pulling the secondary off to change the buttons, do I need any special tools? Will anything fly apart that I need to watch out for?

Just a snapring pliers. If you mark everything there is no worries. Its not under alot of pressure so if your careful it wont fly apart. Is some pressure though.Dont worry either way its not hard at all.
