Finally got enough snow to get out and ride my 2014 Viper. I added a D&D muffler and was interested in how much louder it was. Trouble is at about 5000rpm I can't hear the exhaust at all, all I get is a rattle noise, kind of like a loose exhaust shield. Talking to my dealer he thinks it's the normal clutch rattle. It goes away a higher rpm but is on a low speed trail it's annoying. I did install a Schmidt Bros quiet kit, it helped some at idle but not at higher rpm. Does anyone know of anything that will calm it down? Or is there some other source? As for performance I did not get enough miles to find out but it is definitively not much louder than stock.

I have been riding Yamahas for 20 yrs now and really got used to the rattle with the RX's with reduction gear I can hear mine in the Viper but it is not noticeable with my helmet on and riding.

Did you ever get it figured out? Mine does the samething, when my sled was at the dealer they checked the whole thing over, also installed the Schmidt bros quiet kit with the same results as you. I still have the annoying rattle at low speeds / rpms but clears up when I get on the throttle. They checked out the heat shields and said everything was good.

I guess it's just the way the clutch is mounted inside the motor, there is a separate shaft from the crank, gear drive to the clutch shaft. Makes noise, guess it always will. Does not give the impression of quality but functionally it works fine.
