I am looking for some help to find a base line clutch set-up for my stage 1 MPI 2003 RX-1 for use on the ashphalt.
I would prefer to use the stock clutch weight and have engagement at around 5400 engine RPM. of 4500 clutch RPM.
I would also like to know what rear spring would work best using the stock rear helix.
Thanks for any info availble.

You will never get 5400 RPM engagement with stock weights and still grab the belt.
You need a set of Special weights with my base line set up.
The Stock rear helix is not right for your combination.
You are welcome to call me for a Clutch kit.
Ted.

Re: Looking for Ted J.
Which HH's do you have? If they are 60 or 64 gram (empty) you can use them. If they are 48, you wont be able to load them heavy enough unless you have tungsten bolts and washer. For 60 gram base, load them equally heel, mid and tip until you get around 82 grams. Run stock primary spring and stock primary rollers. Run 56/44 helix with Yamaha White secondary spring set to 60 degrees (3 and 3). This will get you close, fine tune from there.

Forgot to add if you want higher engagement, run higher initial force primary spring and same finishing force as stock spring.

BBY,
My heavy Hitters are approximately 53 gram base weights. I bought them this way so them would work in stock trim as well.
I finally have them loaded up the 81.3 grams. I think that that is all I cam get in them. Last time out I only hda 78.0 grams in them and was smoking the belt at the start line.
I had custm copper pins made to install in the heel of the weight the gave me an extra 3.3 grams in the heel. Hopefully the sled will be able to pull the weight as I do not have an easy way to remove some of the weight from the heel.
I am going to the track this weekend and update how it works.
Last time out I went 9.87 @ 131.27 MPH.
