My son has 2007 Mountain Lite. It is stock (clutching, gearing and track). The clutches are clean and the clutch springs were replaced last year. It is occasionally overrevving and I would like to slow the motor down 200-300 RPMs.
Is there a rule of thumb for weight add to RPM change? For example I am looking at changing the rivets to add .9 grams. Is .9 gram add worth 150 RPMs on this 500 motor? I ride an RMK in the mountains and with the Polaris 700/800s there are some easy general rules for weight grams changes to RPMs.
Thanks! Bgs

It depends on the profile of weight and location you need to add to. A agressive profile will require less weight to drop 100 RPM than a flater profile and a gram in the tip will drop more RPM than the heel. Generally a gram will get you around 100 RPM but it will depend on everything I just mentioned.

Not the best way but you could change the spring on the secondary to drop 300 rpm pretty easy. Loosen spring one hole and try, will also make upshift faster.

You can change primary spring to drop rpm also. General rule of thumb higher spring rate holds higher rpm while lower spring rate drops rpm. Stock primary spring to much spring rate if your on sea level riding. B:1 on secondary is best setup for shift out it's all trial and error.

I bought a set of Heavy Hitter adjustable weights from Thunder Products.
I loaded the primary to 62 grams and now pull 11500 +-200 from takeoff to WOT. No rev limiter.
