Hey Guys,
I'm hitting the rev limiter. Ideally i want the Thunder products kit with adjust-ability but cannot wait for delivery. I have only three days to do something else. I pulled a weight out and was gunna remove the rivet and weigh it. Does anyone have suggestions what to install. I can grind cut and fabricate. Thought i would check in here first.

Add more weight to tip. You have to have a dealer with the heavier rivets in stock or find a Gates belt which may bring rpm low enough to stay off limiter

Former Yamaha sleds:
2004 Venture 600 2002 SX Viper 700
1997 Vmax 600 SX 1994 Vmax 600 1989 Exciter
1986 Vmax 540 1986 Phaser 1981 SRX 440
Back in the old days we would add some weld to them and then grind on the heavier ones to get them to match the lightest one.

Did not say what speed range that you are trying to tune or what you have for overall setup. Bone stock?

RTX Viper LE 1.700 track. New to me this season with 2100 miles. Previous owner added MBRP race can. I added Barn of parts axel kit with 8 inch wheels. Its hitting the rev limiter bad@ 9200.
I need a quick fix running this weekend on Tug Hill and cant wait for parts.
I bought 1/4 - 20 bolts @ .244 dia exactly.
The tip hole is exactly .240 so they press in nicely.
I slotted the bolts ends with a dremel.
spread the slot so they cant come out.
and made each weight to be all the same on a gram scale.
They only weigh a gram more than original. Im thinking it may have been a wast of time. One gram???
Any thoughts.

The Crank Shop sells Tungsten washers. I bet they can have them to you in a day or 2. Use new bolts with the washers. I think they come in 3, 4, 4.5 gram

Gates belt should solve the problem. I have same sled but never really messed with the stock weights. Belt slip is an issue with anything but the Gates belt.

You were on the right track by going to the hardware store. I wouldn’t run a bolt without a nut on the other side with Loctite. The nut and bolt pictured in the photo is about 3.8 grams heavier than the heaviest rivet that Yamaha makes. It’s been several years but to my recollection they were metric. Verify that you have the clearance in the clutch after it’s assembled. I rode 800 miles with this set up without any issues.

A word of caution to temper your expectations. Top speed will be very boring with this machine. Don't be surprised if you top out in the 70's. The shocks as delivered will be quite stiff so you should be able to pound.

Curious how this worked out for the OP?

Im to heavy and under reving @ 8400 rpm. It was better than continuously hitting rev limiter at 9200. I have an airbox mod ( barry roes video) planned. Of course my mods and adjustments are in the wrong order. Airbox next should provide more rpm. Then final weight adjustment.
Shocks are harsh.
top speed this weekend 82
Four to five feet fell on Tug Hill. Awesome weekend.

Another thing you could do but goes against all I believe about clutching is to adjust secondary wind. Now that you are under revving if still not wanting to buy clutch components go with a tighter wind. 82mph is not bad for that LE. It has a snocross setup for gearing.

Best thing you can do with the shocks is add the DSC valves and have them revalved. I had Fox Midwest do the DSC valves and minor revalve to soften. I then had Carver do them and that is what made them shine.
DSC increases oil flow to and from the res which is a very big deal.
