What is everybody doing with their clutching and mountain riding?

My XTX was setup more for trail and lake with windage plates, ground down helix to put it in over drive and a steel rivet in the weight. Removed the plates to keep the belt cooler, but wondering what more people do.

How much does gearing change clutching? Dropped to a 19 on top in the XTX with a 2" track. Thanks.

When running a 2" track on a XTX, installing the heavier rivits in the heel and leaving the tips light or empty helps give a straighter shift out and improves primary backshifting for mountain use. Same total mass as what the clutching chart shows for elevation, your just moving the weight from the tip to the heel.
In the secondary the stock XTX helix is 43*. For improved backshifting a 39* or a 43*-39* works well in the mountains.
The bennefit of gearing down, is that it allows the belt to ride closer to a 1 to 1 ratio during climbing. This helps the clutches run cooler, since 1 to 1 is the most efficent operating range of a CVT transmision.
