2015 Yamaha Viper M-TX 162 SE 1st stage MPI Turbo, 2007 Yamaha Apex MTN SE 162
I just got my new Viper and had the dealer install the MPI 1st stage 190hp turbo. They didn't install any new clutching and MPI dealer said I would need to re-clutch it. I ride in mountains from 6000-10000 feet. So I was wondering what would be the way to go for clutching.

Heres a chart for the MTX sleds using Yamaha parts. Chart

Thanks that will help a lot.

b-w-b primary spring 8bu weight 13.9 mm solid rivet inner. 13.3 rivet with hole outer. or dalton 62-69 gram adjustable weights since you ride so many different elveations 47 degree helix 6+1 preload on the secondary

We just set up our red viper with MPI last week and took it out and tested a new setup for us and compared to several other turbo setups. We went OSP magnetic weights and Barn Of Parts soft start primary spring with 6mm worth of primary spring shims from Thunder Products. Engages at 2800 rpm and pulls great, other MPI owner liked it better than his...lol. We used 4 magnets 2 in tip two next to tip and ran near rev limiter at 10k.

I got the MPI/Ulmer kit that Ulmer has, set it up to the recommended weights and it worked perfectly.

Thanks for all the help and info. This will help out a lot.

what are you running for clutching in your evo turbo viper?

Last outing 8fs weights but I have changed back to Dalton QAY 70 but cut the base ramp off the weight. Running barn of parts soft start spring with 6mm of primary spring shims. I cut the little ramp on the weight because I do not like my sleds to overrev on takeoff, I want smooth for less track spin. If I don't like it the 8fs go back in with more weight on them.

Thanks!...what is your engagement rpm? and what helix are you running?
