A new 2018 SW LTX-LE in our group swapped to a 1.75 back country track from mile 0. No other changes or mods. Stock clutching, stock tune. When he stabs the throttle, it RPM's right to 8,750 but then quickly settles down to 8400. Is there something simple to try and pick up some RPM (and top speed)? Change the secondary spring twist? He'd prefer not to install a complete clutch kit or flash, unless that is the only solution. Preference would be a spring change. Thanks.

Still stock gearing. 750 miles.

I have a 2018 LTX LE 50th. It has the Backcountry track since new, stock gearing. I was stock tune last year. I played with different clutching combo's but had some issues with clutch temperatures and belt failure early on. I ended up settling with a Thunder Products Orange spring in the Primary, Stock weights, Dalton Black/Orange in Secondary set at 3/3. I put a Dalton 33/37 in Secondary also. Running the 8jp. Very dusty.

It worked well, acceptable clutch temps. 1800 miles on the belt and still in good shape. Very soft but linear clutching. Consistent RPM's. I think I was about 8500, 8600 RPM on top. Only about 107 MPH though but I am a fairly big guy.

This year I have flashed to 270, with dtay-1, Dalton bronze in Primary. Secondary Dalton Black/Orange at 6/1, Hi-torque rollers and a Ron Ward designed Dalton Helix. Ultimax XS825 belt. Clutch Temps are very cool? Luke warm at best. Still running the Backcountry. I haven't had a chance to wind it out yet. The Backcountry track is very good for handling this power on the trails as it grabs very hard.

Thanks for your feedback and set up.

There is an updated clutch kit from Yamaha that has a different Helix, spring and lighter outer rivets for the stock weights. This will definetely give higher, peak RPM'S. Its $100 here in Canada, cheaper in US of course. If staying stock I would try it.
