Forgot to say at WOT with the stock set-up and 43 straight angle, my rpms dropped to roughly 8500 and this is bad.

TY 4 Stroke God
With stock weights, spring and helix, hit the limiter on a start. With the 51/43 at 6-2 I had to run the b-w-b primary spring to keep the rpms at 8700 on a lunch, but engagement was too high at roughly 4300, so the sled was not as smooth as I wanted. That's why I know the 46\40 should work for me, even with the 8GL.
The 8gl weights have a bump in the heel like a 2 stroke weight would. If you get your RPM set right for mid and top you will hit the rev limiter on hard takeoff because of the bump. The picture below isn't big enough to show it, you can see it better on http://www.totallyamaha.com/ go to TECH then SNOWMOBILE TECH and the WEIGHTS to see the full size pic. Notice in the chart the quick bump at take off. Compare that to the 8FP and I think you will see why we settled on that weight (if using stock weights)

Nothing new to me. That's what the Nytro did with the stock clutching. It was running faster loaded more with the DnF on hard pack. But the rev limiter issue is bigger with the viper. The Nytro ran well with a straight 45. But not the viper. I could post report of the 46\40 with both the 8GL and 8FP after this week end, but I am sure it will give better results than the 43 straight with the two different weight set up. By the way you should be surprised how fast ran my Assault with Polaris 11-70 modded weights that are almost same profile as 8GLs. Just a fact. I know they are two different animals.
