I have an 04 rx1 that i just got maybe three weeks ago. its bone stock with only 5500kms on it. This is my first 4 stroke machine, and I will never look at another 2 stroke again, these are awsum.
Ive been hiding in the background just sorta reading through posts trying to understand a little more bout the machines, and I've read more then once about how "normal" rpms at WOT is 10,500 to 10,800.
when I pin mine, it sees probably 9900 or MAX 10,000 if you tilt you head just a little.
it revs up to that, hold for a second as the machine accelerate, then the rpms begin to creep up at higher speeds. In all my two stroke experience, the machine would just rev to whatever its going to do, and not increase....
so what could be my problem? Ive read about cleaning the clutches, is there a how-to or a good topic in here relating to cleaning?
every talks about clutch kits etc.... how tunable are the stock clutches? can i change how aggressive the clutches are to bring the rpms up a little?
sorry for all the questions, im just trying to get a grip on these machines..

Clutch kit will get you in the sweet spot of 10,200. I have a heel clicker setup but I hear a lot of good things about Ulmer's clutch kit too. Your springs are probably a little suspect, I'd get a new secondary stock if you go with the heel clicker kit.

go with ulmers kit, you will not be disapointed. just tell allen ulmer what you want to do with the sled and your weight and he sends it pre loaded for you. some guys need a minor adjustment but mine was bang on and really woke up the sled.
as to cleaning, there is quite a few posts in here on it. might even be an illustrated one as well.
