CNC PORTED NYTRO HEAD

I am just amazed at the extra expense of 'snowmobile' cylinder head porting vs. 'motorcycle' head porting......more than double.

:o| :drink:

I'm with ya on that brotha! The other thing is too, as long as I've been racing and tinkerin with bikes (some 35+years), the horsepower claims for these mods have seemingly gone up. Used to be a good multi-angle valve job would get ya 3-5 horsepower and a good port job would get ya 6-10 horsepower. Now some shops are claiming upwards of 20 horsepower for porting and a valve job. Just seems a lil too good to be true.

In reality I would be happy with the 10 horse addition.

Regardless, when I get the head done on my N/A apex I plan to do a before and after dyno test. Hopefully, over the spring or early summer. Stay Tuned!

I think there is good power in a ported and polished head, but the real power comes when you shave the head. Take it down twenty thou and run premium!! amazing!

Not to start a huge debate but, 20 thou is not really that much. Just as a point of reference, when I put a thinner head gasket on my 2002 GSXR-1000 (about 25 thou) it raised the compression about a half a point. On the dyno it picked up 2.5 horsepower. Went from approximatly 148.5 to 150 which is only 2.5/148.5 x 100% = 1.7% more horsepower. If ur butt dyno can feel that it must be very sensitive. ;):D
