Went to start my 08 rtx today and it wouldnt turn over and it was flashing code 12..I read around on here and found out that it was the crankshaft positioning sensor..I never really read an answer on how to fix it and am wondering if I need to get a new sensor, or if its just froze up due to the fact that it has been ridin in wet snow the last 3 days at 30 degrees and froze up and getting a bad read due to a high of 2 degrees today..?? Dealership said that a new one would cost around $300 and thats all I know..anyone have any suggestions for me or have had this happen to them...?

You can test it using a ohm meter. Follow the wires from the stator housing and should be a 2 wire plug black and grey. Look in a service manual for the value for that sensor.

It`s probably just your starter relay!

I just went through this a few days ago, start relay assembly. $41.00 at my dealer.

The ECU expects to see a crank sensor pulse when the key is turned but because it does not roll over there's no pulse (code 12). You can jump across the starter relay with a heavy wire or remove one wire and touch it to the other.

Take a hair dryer and use it to heat the starter solenoid. Its next to the battery. I had to do that to get mine to start so I could take it to the dealer.
