My apex throws a code 30 and dies and I have to restart it 4 or 5 times before it stays running when its less than 25. It was 14 degrees the other day and I had to restart it about 10 times. I run synthetic 0w30 torco oil. I'm afraid of burning up my starter and would like some ideas on what is causing this.

My manual says code 30 indicates your oil pressure dropped off and your engine will stop when an oil pressure drop is detected. Fuel pump and fuel injection are shut down when this code occurs. (Main relay is off.) Unable to start and unable to drive. Have you checked your oil pressure or wiring?? May be time for a block heater to save your starter......

Wiring looks fine and it is supposed to throw another code if the something is wrong with the sensor.
Maybe boosting issue, check everything over, start there

I should add that once it warms up then everything is fine. Maybe the oil pressure switch is starting to go out.

oem oil filter? could be drain back valve (in the filter) is leaking back, to thick of oil could cause it ae well as a defective oil pressure switch, also if your sled has a turbo with the extra oil lilnes and such it may of been possible for a piece of debris to get into oil pressure switch, take it out and check it

Looks like 3 main causes for Fault code No. 30 Symptom Oil pressure dropped according to manual Pg 79.
1 Oil pressure dropped Keep the snow mobile horizontal and then measure the oil pressure after the sufficient warm-up, and check that the value is 25 kpa or more.
2 Oil pressure switch lead-short circuit detected. It measures between engine earths from the oil pressure switch connector (Yellow/Green) with the circuit tester. NOTE: Disconnect is ECU coupler.
3 Defective oil pressure switch. After 1 minute has passed since the engine start, measure the resistance between the oil pressure switch and switch body with a circuit tester, and it will be OK if the result showed ∞.
Sounds like it is more apt to be a wiring or switch issue. Anything I have ever worked on has high oil pressure when the oil is cold and thick, then you run into issues after everything warms up and oil thins out….

Thanks for the info. I am going to order a new switch and try it out.

I had a filter on a car do that once. Oil light would stay on for about 15 - 20 seconds after a cold start

Its actually an spi filter. It did the same thing last year with a different spi filter too. Maybe the spi filter is letting it drain back?
