Anyone tried the new Cometic .050" copper head gasket? This is within .001" of 3 factory gaskets stacked. Any problems with fluids not sealing or whatever else? O-rings in the block needed with the all copper gasket? I ordered me one to go with my supercgarger kit. I don't want to get into the motor but I'm scared of getting too low of octane fuel for my Apex, especially in Quebec. I would like to be on the safe side for once in my life time. I plan to run 7-10 lbs. of boost.

Thanks,
Moon

There's an idea. How much was this and from where did you order it? Let us know how this turns out for you. I would imagine, with one single gasket, maybe the torque specs are different than from 3 separate gaskets????

torque it to ted jannettys spec they wont leak or blow out then also 50 +the gasket is over kill for7-10 i think.

I would not use copper for fear of it not sealing. The factory gaskets are embosed for sealing. I also wouldnt take compresion away for 7-10 lbs on a blower w/92 octane fuel. Do tourqe the stock gasket down though to Teds specs.

Are you sure it is Copper?????

I would not use a Copper head gasket.
I would use a multi layer steel head gasket like Yamaha uses.
Cometic makes these in MLS also any thickness you like.
This is what we use in all our Turbo applications.
Copper is a very soft material and will not hold after several heat cycles.
I suggest just stacking 3 factory head gaskets which are 0.017 each giving you a total of 0.051 for 12 lbs. on pump fuel

Ted.

Do Not use copper head gaskets. We are using them in our drag race motors, oringed with .041" ss wire, and it is a ROYAL pain. You really don't want to go there unless you are over 40# boost, and even then I'm still not sure they are the answer. The embossed gaskets are definitley the way to go for any trail motor.

I can understand his fear of octane. Where I ride up there you seldomly see anything higher than 89 octane and you know that a lot of the trail stops are marginal at best.
