I love my 06 GT. Sometimes I like it better in twisty and narrow trails than my Apex. With the carbs it is not as touchy with the trottle as the Apex is with the injectors. Love em both though. The only thing I did on both was to add the extra wheel for the slidders and spaced the other two idlers down for better slidder wear. I also put a rear heat exchanger on both sled with water wetter in the system, both temo lights would come on whenriding slow or in low snow and icy trail conditions. Now no more problems.

Great feedback everyone - Thanks! The sled has hyfax savers installed on it as well as wheel lowering kit. I am assuming the latter is the wheels on the skis that lift up the ski for when driving on pavement. It also comes with Yamaha saddle bags and a tank bag with map holder. At first I thought the asking price of $5300 was high, but with all the extras it is a good price.
I got the VIN and the local Yamaha dealer ran a check on it for me. The sled has had a few minor things done but otherwise is fine. I am going to have the sled checked out by this dealer so I can get the YES warranty transferred and also for peace of mind.
I sat on a Vector today at another sled shop and LOVED it! So nice to sit on a sled that is not rider forward. I am 99.9% sure I will buy the sled.
I'll have to have the Yamaha dealer show me how to start the sled properly. I will have to check out what carbides are on it now. If they aren't the doolies I will more than likely put them on.
The red one in the pictures on one reply is a sweet looking sled. The one I am looking at is black and is nice looking.

I picked up the Vector GT on Wednesday and since I was not sure how it was maintained and also because it only had 785 miles on it as a 2006 I brought it right to the local Yamaha dealer. I had the pistons cleaned and a service done. Glad I did because the oil was milky. They also drained the old gas out and put new in. The dealer had it all ready for pick up Thursday afternoon and I was able to some riding last night.
Wow! what a nice ride. All I could think of when riding it was, why did I wait so long to get another sled. Riding this sled compared to my '04 Polaris 550 fan Classic is like riding a Cadillac and a buggy. I like how I sit up higher and the handling/suspension of the sled is outstanding.
I can't wait to really hit the trails and enjoy this sled. Still gotta work on understanding the suspension and dialing it in right. Bottom line - excited to be part of the 4 stroke Yamaha family!!

Congrats on the new ride! Did you have the chaincase fluid changed? Also...some of the Vectors back then came with a "too much antifreeze" mix of coolant. Might want to have the coolant checked.
Get some Slim Jims or Duece Bars and just ride!!! ENJOY!

The local Yamaha dealer was nice enough to run the VIN for me and found that the sled did have the 500 mile service. But because it is an '06 with only 785 miles on it, I wasn't sure how long it had been sitting and was concerned about bad fuel and other condensation. So I took it to the dealer and they cleaned the carbs and went through the entire sled. They found that the oil was milky so they changed it and did a full service on it. The local dealer (Village Motorsports in Speculator, NY) has an excellent reputation, which is one of the reasons I bought a Yamaha.

I ride my 06 Vector very hard and have 8000 miles on it. It has had several issues that are well documented here on TY specifically the idler wheels and the rear pivot arm. Easy enough to deal with this compared to melted pistons... Like I said, I ride it hard and beat on it, but I do think it is the best sled I have had. Now if I would have just bought my buddys 07 Attak, I would be even happier...
