I have 2012 nytro the coolant that is in it is blue called around looking for some was told to go napa get green coolant and mix with it looked it to yamacool that is green to I see they have a bottle with a blue sticker in 2013 catalog can't find any to see if it is blue coolant so I mad a few more calls found a dealer that told
Me not to mix green coolant in that sled because it has a different type in it that he would run engine ice coolant
In it I would think that yamacool would work if there is a different coolant why is the coolant in my sled blue and why can't I find it from yamaha

Yamaha recommends changing the coolant yearly. Flush the system and replace it with a good automotive 50/50 blend coolant like Peak Long Life prediluted for all makes and models.

X2
Just don't use dex-cool and if you don't use the 50/50 blend mix the coolant to keep it safe from freezing in you're area.

My Mtx is the same way. We figured it was what the dealer used at setup. Is your sled originally from Michigan? That's where previous owner bought mine. I am going to flush it and put something different in.

Is there something wrong with the yamaha coolant? Or just that it costs more?

I hope you didn't go full strength. Antifreeze dissipates heat poorly so it's important that it's diluted with water. You only need enough antifreeze to prevent the water from freezing in your area. In the US a 50/50 blend is normal which gives a freeze point of around -30 F and still dissipates enough engine heat on warmer days to prevent overheating.
I went 50/50. Tested it good down to -37F sled shouldn't be outsidenif its that cold

I know this is an old thread but I have one question. I just put a rock through my front cooler and it put a half inch crack in it and it drained all my coolant out. I guess it was a sign for me to change my coolant. Well cooler is welded up and good to go but how much coolant does a nytro mtx take? Just wondering how much to buy.

Does anyone know if the procedure to drain fluid has been posted here, and refill.
I have looked and never come across it.
I have done it on an automobile but never on my Nytro. The rad on an angle looks interesting to refill.
Any ideas. Thanks

I was wondering the same thing. I can't seem to find a clear procedure on how to do it. I'm a pretty handy guy but this is something I have never done so I want to get it right the first time as I have a trip planned in a couple weeks I would hate for something to not be right.
