THere's lot's of discussion about clutches and clutch temps on Yamahas. Right after I got my Vector in 2005, I read somewhere about how a guy cut holes in his clutch guard and put 2" dia. soffit vents in the holes to help cool the clutches. He also put one in the vertical bulkhead/plastic in front of the primary clutch. I didn't do this because of my fear of getting snowdust in the clutches.

I can't say how much cooler the clutches run, but they do run noticibly cooler to the touch. I'vew never experienced any belt slip due to snow ingestion either.

That is a pretty "cool" idea. I think I'll give it a shot next fall. Something I never even thought about.

Neet idea indeed. I think your on to something here.

Great idea, where did you get the vents?

I've seen alot of guys that just drill holes in the clutch covers. I don't see alot of snow getting in their to warrant the vents...

Any large home improvement store should have them. Menards, Home Depot etc.

Only if it runs too hot :-)
If the RS sleds run too hot running the stock clutch config, then added cooling is a good thing. Proper clutching would also lower the clutch temps.
