I have spent the last hour trying to find the correct plug # and all I find is the upgraded CR10s
but what is factory for a 09 nytro? will CR8E be ok?

Factory plugs are CR9E. I have no idea about the CR8E one way or the other.

CR9E is a hotter plug than CR8E always remember that, the higher the number the hotter plug. Unless it is Champion.... Champion is the complete opposite of all the other spark plugs names.

NGK Spark Plug Heat Rating
The spark plug heat range has no relationship to the electrical energy transferred through the spark plug. The heat range of a spark plug is the range in which the plug works well thermally. The heat rating of each NGK Spark Plug is indicated by a number; lower numbers indicate a hotter type, higher numbers indicate a colder type. - See more at: http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/about-ngk/tech-talk/spark-plug-basics#sthash.S2Mj6xDH.dpuf

CR9E is the stock NGK as stated and its a basic, normal plug. Autozone stocks the NGK 6263 which is the same as the 9e for $4 a plug

Here's a cross chart if you want to buy another brand

Thanks for posting that chart, it's a good one to bookmark.
So again standard factory plugs are CR9E, but a lot of users run the CR10/ CR10EK...why is that, what's the benefit?
I found them on eBay for $5.50 so I'm thinking I can't go wrong for the price & I'll be getting a "premium" spark plug.
However CR9EHIX are the Iridium replacement and those are just over $6.50 each so that's another good option. CR9EHIX-9

The CR10EK is a multi-ground electrode, in other words dual electrode vs. 1. Multi-Ground Electrodes Improve Ignition Capabilities and are Less Sensitive to Increased Voltage Requirements Due to Gap Growth.

I thought the 8 would be a hotter plug than 9?
