Is there a difference between Yamaha V-Belts 8DN-17641-01-00 and 8DN-17641-00-00. I will be using this on my 2008 FX Nytro.

No difference, the 01 will replace the other in time.
The new 8DN belt is .015"-.020" wider

But I was also told the new belt will override the 00 version so it will not hurt anything to run either.

Yes, the new 01 belt is a superceeding number to the 00 belt! You can use either on the sled though and it will not damage anything!

Yes somewhere around .020" wider than the 8DN-00 belt!
Actually the 8DN-01 belt is slightly narrower, about 0.4mm / .016", across the top surface only. The top outer edges get dressed to clean them up after they're made and it removes a little material. Otherwise same as the -00 belt and interchangeable.
