Last March I fogged my RX-1 and tucked it away in the garage for the summer. Well, yesterday I could not wait any longer and had to start it up for the first time in months. Forgot what a sweet sound that motor makes....... My kids and wife were laughing at me as I was like a kid in a candy store. Bring on the snow!!!!

It is a nice feeling, isn't it? Yesterday I started my Vector for the first time since Feb or March. I was pleasantly surprised that it cranked fine and started on it's own without any summer battery maintenance.

Yes, bring on the snow...and lots of it!

I moved mine around the garage and got them ready to load up in a couple weeks. Snow in the mountains this morning.

Problem, is there an easy way to prime the carbs with fuel? Mine took a lot of cranking to get going.

Thanks

Lol I know the feeling. The last 5-6 years I started racing grass now switched to asphalt this year that cures the proble. This is the rs forum did you mean to post it in the rx form?

On the left side of the sled under the hood and just behind the secondary clutch, there is a rubber tube connected to a round part of the frame. It is the fuel tank vent. Pull that rubber tube off, stick your mouth over it, and BLOW. This will pressurize the fuel tank and cause fuel to flow into the carbs. When its pressurized, put your finger over it (to hold in the pressure), full choke, no throttle, turn key. Release pressure after it starts.

Pro116, Yes I wanted to post it in the RX-1 side but screwed up. Did not know if I could move it or not. While cruising in the car with my wife the last couple of days here in NY (70-80 degrees the last few days) I have seen lots of people with their sleds out. Everyone is getting ready!!!!

I think only moderators can move post.I know you can edit and delete them but I think that's it.I can't wait for snow either, lol

No problem, moved :D
Last year about this time we started having a lot of posts where people asked, "why does yamaha put such crappy batteries in these things?" LOL

I remembered those posts while I was dragging my trailer out from beside the barn Saturday. It had been almost seven months since I had even laid eyes on the thing, let alone charged the battery. It DID take an aweful lot of cranking, but the battery never faltered. ;)!

What LB said! Works for me!

Last spring I filled the gas tanks and added stabil. I started my sleds on the first of the month every month since with no problems. This gives me the chance to visit them once a month and daydream of snow.

Thanks for the info, actually I didn't think of the overflow to pressurize the tank but I will now.

I store mine a few miles away from home and I pulled the battery, I started the Phazer but never cranked over the Vector which was most of my problem for sure.

Thanks again for the info.
