Found a small crack in my front w arm. Looks like its been there some time but I want to get it welded just for safety sake. Is that arm chrome Moly or mild steel? No guesses please.

It doesn't matter if it's chrome moly or regular steel, you will still weld it with er70 series wire if mg or tig welding. But I think it's chrome moly (sorry for the guess). I tig welded mine do a search and you will see the added gusseting that is needed

Replace it with the new part!!! South Seattle Sports Plaza is by far the cheapest OEM parts dealer in North America $219. Yamaha has reinforced it. Your original will fail if you leave it and it will fail if you weld it because of the uneven heat. Mine collapsed landing a jump at about 40mph tore the track in half and threw me 30 feet over the bars. Good thing I wasn't goin 100. Gave me a good excuse to get rid of that POS ripsaw track. It's way too heavy to be chromo
