I have found that a several of the welds on the muffler side of the 2 into 1 joint in the exhaust system have cracked. I know that leaks at the donuts will cause backfiring, but will a leak this far down stream cause any significant problems? I was thinking of trying out Fiber Fix Heat Wrap ($15) over the cracks which is supposed to be good up to 850 degrees F. I do have the ability to weld titanium, but it needs to be super clean and I am not confident I can clean the system out well enough to get a decent weld. So it is either a poor man's band aid fix or dump even more money on a used exhaust into this money pit...

Mine crack there as well to the point the one side of the Y actually fell off... I took it to a metal shop that is known for welding and they did it for $20! Without welding it, it will backfire badly...I have found that a several of the welds on the muffler side of the 2 into 1 joint in the exhaust system have cracked. You just saved me $150! I didn't even bother to check to see if the stock muffler assembly was really titanium... I assumed it was because the headers are titanium and it had the same patina as they did. Turns out it is steel and can easily be welded. You didn't happen to use your muffler as a prybar before that last ride did you? lol That's baaaad! Sorry to laugh, but I can cause mine broke to, just nothing like that...View attachment 123635I've been there as well. I had it welded rode one weekend with no issues. I then pulled it back off. I had a bracket welded on it for support like the newer style 09 and newer do. I only put about 1100 miles on last season and I went through sled two weeks ago and it held up fine.
