Excell exhaust cracked,$800 for what?

What gauge is the material? Material grade? Full weld penetration? Back purged or flux used? Anyone have some close up pics, especially inside the tube.

I had it welded today the guy said the weld was really slight and there is a collar right at the weld where they break. I'm not up on your other question because I'm not a welder. Maybe someone else can answer that for you. It does look a lot stronger now.

If these exhaust systems are cracking in these areas, why don't they use a Stainless Steel braided section to alleviate the stress in this area. The exhaust could flex with the chassis. I've seen this done on many automotive applications.

That would make a lot of sense and save a lot of headaches .

We can do without guys posting their so called "smart comments". If they don't have anything constructive to contribute, then they should keep their comments to themselves. It just pisses people off!

Oh can we? Who made you moderator for the day? This guy comes on here to discredit a site sponsor who happens to make a great product. Six years and 6000 km later? Nobody would warranty that. To publicly complain about something like this is conniving and childish. I see you're both from Corner Brook, Newfoundland.......buddies?

Read my post,I was not looking for warranty, I just didn't like the run around and answers I got. I see your from Clark Mills NY, 25 miles from the dealer....Buddy!

You must of woke up on the wrong side of the bed! As a matter of fact, if you had nothing good to offer, stay out of it! It was none of your business. He had a genuine concern and wanted to pass on his experience to other people on this forum so that people could make an informed decision if they were thinking about purchasing this product. This is the purpose of a forum. It's not here to protect people's feelings. It's here to INFORM! As for both of us being from Newfoundland, do you realize the size of this province! Oh, by the way, do you know Derek Jeter? You are from NY? Funny!

For anyone thinking about upgrading their exhaust you may want to stay away from Excell motorsports in NY.I dropped $ 800 on this system and must say I really like the sound. Yesterday while I was upgrading my track I discovered that the mid pipe was cracked right off. So the 1st thing I do is call them up and the guy tells me yes we can sell you a new mid for $250 plus shipping. I tell him that's not the way to back your products so I take some pictures and send them to Aaron "the owner" to see what he can do for me. The next email I get is that they are now out of stock and that unfortunately I should get someone "good" to weld it for me and that they will have them again next year. Oh and I forgot, one reason he gave me why it cracked is because in NL we have a lot of temperature change, really good reason for a piece of stainless steel to break off. Then after I send another reply explaining how much gear my group of friend have got from him, he can now get the material in 3 weeks and then make me one and sell it to me for $ 175, what a deal for me,lol. As well if I send the old one back he will weld it for me and I can miss a month of snowmobiling. Last but not least, I tell him that many people can sell product but you have to stand be hide it and his reply is, "he is sorry that he never gave me this option in the beginning because they got snow up there and are really busy". Well MR. Excell we have snow here to in Newfoundland since October and when we buy gear from retailers we need you to stand for your product and not Mickey Mouse around and hope the problem will go away.
Ok, in your original post it says that Excell told you they could send you another pipe for $250, you said "I told him that's not the way to back up your products" if you were not looking for warranty then what exactly were you looking for?
The collar that was on the pipe was to strengthen the welds that held the two on to one pipe. It did it's job but unfortunately due to the stress & flex, the pipe broke at the end of the collar. This is why I said welding the collar to the pipe should be as good if not stronger than new.
I love the sound of my Excell, not too loud but has an awesome low end bark, lol!!!

I didn't want if for nothing, but $250 was pretty stiff for a mid.But what you don't realize was the next day when I called I was told "not in stock until next year". If you went through the situation you may see my point because I was going to buy the pipe, but then I got turned pretty quick from the guy taking the orders comments. If I lived in NY I would not have posted this in the 1st place because I'm sure a face to face would have worked this out.

Warp, the bottom line is that our pipes "did not" crack at the welds, they cracked at the end of the collar where it's not even welded. The cause is more so a Yamaha design flaw, the factory pipes tend to crack as well, whether it's do to flex or too much vibration, don't really know.
Glad you got it fixed & your ready to hit the snow ;)!

Mine did crack at the weld right around that collar but should be good now, safe riding Ranger1.
