I think I have cracked exhaust under tunnel (03 RX1) & must leave next week for 5 day saddle bag trip to Hearst, ONT. I don't think it can be repaired before then , has anyone encountered this? Is this something to worry about?

cracked exhaust
What are the symptoms? I had an awfull rattle on my 05 it turned out to be the gaskets at the crossover under the seat. take of your seat there are two rubber plugs on the tunnel these will give you access to two 12mm bolts on the clamps loosen these, there are two 10mm on the heat shield and four bolts and rubber mounts at each corner on the can, with all these out you can slide your exhaust out by pulling towards the rear of the sled, check your gaskets and replace if nessecary.

Just had an 05 apart and it was the exhaust gasket just after the joint bellows.
8FA-14613-00-00 is the part # They havnt been replaced yet he is in same boat leaving for a trip...there is evidence of the leak on the frame and the shield but nothing extreme. We buttoned it back up and will fix when he gets back.

Re: exhaust leak
Sometimes the exhaust flexpipes bust. I've had a couple go bad. What I do is stick a rag in each muffler exit and let sled idle, then try and find leak. If exhausting under cab flexpipe is busted. Hope this helps.

I investigated my louder than normal exhaust and found 3 of the 4 exhaust donuts to be shot. Replaced these, fired up sled and found a leak in the 2 into 1 pipe that connects to the bellow joint. Discovered a hole worn through the Ti pipe appx. 1/4" x 5/8" in size. The pipe coming out of the bellows must of ratttled enough after the donut was shot to wear thru the flanged area of the 2 in to 1 section. If your exhaust is starting to sound louder than normal, I'd recommend to investigate sooner than later. I might have been able to prevent the worn hole if I got the worn donuts early enough. That worn Ti pipe section cost in the neighborhood of $300. I opted for a little weight gain by installing a used stainless pipe from an '03 machine for alot less money.
