I saw my A/F bounching around from 20 to 22.4 at idle, and when I removed it there were Lots Of Cracks & Holes. It made noises but I never really knew what they were at that time
your A/F readings might not change if the cracks are very minor, but if it's cracked I promise you it's going to get worse. I also saw that the plugs on the cyl's that the header tubes were cracked on were very rich.

Your header bolts might be lose on one or two and your gasket is leaking slightly as it gets temp into it that noise goes away. I had one header bolt missing on mine as well.

I have cracked 2 of em. Both times they were quiet & could not hear a leak. You can usually tell if your dropping boost on a wot run

Put air pressure to it and then soap and water .If there is a leak it will show big time .

I just had the same thing happen to me. Kind of a knocking noise then went away after running a min. I took it apart and 2 bolts had come out of the head.

thanks for the info. i will take a look. this is a drag sled with 418 miles on it so i dont think its cracked yet.

Air pressure to check for a leaky header? How?

seal off the exhaust of the turbo , and put 15 psi of air to it .If there is a leak or crack in the header you will hear it ,just put some soap and water mix togeather on the exhaust .If there is a leak it will bubble like hell. You would do the same thing when checking the air intake side of the turbo for leaks.
