cracked Rail and broken stuff

Yeah I agree with you there Karl, but does it help it start when it's plugged in? Is it worth 50$?

And steiner I guess I worded it wrong, I didn't buy them I made them, I bought the metal, 1/4 thick by 1 inch wide steel, drilled the holes, bought longer bolts, that's about it nothing special

It definitely helps when it's cold if you plug it in. Makes mine start like it's sitting the garage. Well not quite that easy but ya it makes a difference.

Hey everyone, sorry it has taken so long for an update. So it still didn't start when I hooked the battery to it at -28 or even -22. The shop manual says to replace the plug every 2300Mi I think and my attak has 6700Mi and it's still on the original plugs so I will replace them in the summer. But I am going to buy a inline coolant heater tomorrow and put er on and see if it helps. I'm not sure exactly which hose to splice it into. Didn't one of you say you had one on your sled?

Changing the plugs is a good idea regardless of whether it's the problem. Are you turning the key off and on a few times prior to attempting to start it? Could be your fuel pump relay sticking as well. Known issue on the sleds.

It installs on the lower end of the coolant hose coming up beside the oil tank.
If you pick one up from a Yamaha dealer the instructions have photos on where to install.

I'm not sure you looked at my other post a couple posts under that.

This is the reinforcement the I did on my skid. 1/4 aluminum bolted on together with the rear swing arm and wheels.

Also here is a pic of the coolant heater location. I think its 50mm from the bottom of the hose, section out 25mm of the hose and then install the heater.

Mine is installed a little higher then that photo and works just fine. But that's exactly where to put it as far as which hose to cut into.

Thanks for the pics! I was reading on this site and some people are saying if you put an inline heater on a fuel injected snowmobile, it messes up the thermostat reading and makes it dump fuel into the cyl.s??? And fouls the plugs allot?

These people were saying that when the engine is warm (having the coolant heater going would make the engine think it was warm when it's cold) it dumps more fuel into the cyl. But that is wrong. When an engine is cold it takes more fuel to keep it running and when it's warm it uses allot less fuel. So I don't think I am going to pay much attension to what they were saying.
