Before today, all of my riding on the curves skis was on very hardpack trail conditions. I was impressed with the ski. They were aggressive enough to rail a turn but not overly aggressive. Comfortable is the best word to describe. They didnt dart except very little at very slow speeds. I was satisfied with my purchase.
Well over the past few days we got some more snow so conditions were softer and more mealy. This is where things went very downhill. I had violent darting and zero bite, I pushed into every corner. I had no high speed or low speed stability, one side of the trail to the other catching every rut out there. I then spent the next few hours experimenting with front shock springs, front skid shock and limiter strap with no success. Adding ski pressure did add a little bit of bite from the skis but they still pushed terribly and darting incresed significantly. Reducing ski pressure made little difference in darting and I had no control in corners. Toe out on this sled is 1/4". Nothing is damaged on the front of this sled either. I thought maybe by chance I had bent something in the front of the sled and that was causing the bad handling but everything is straight.
I will add that the skis do float quite well, nothing like the yamaha mountains but better than the stockers for sure. I finished my day riding with the mountain skis and was in heaven. Maybe these skis work great on the shorty nytro but these are not for the xtx in my opinion, I think the xtx would benifit from a c&a ski or something with a more aggressive nature. The skis are built excellent and do look very nice but frankly I'm very dissapointed that the curves are in my shed and the mountain skis are reinstalled on my xtx.

Justin, we are sorry to hear about your difficulties! We would prefer to speak with you over the phone regarding these issues as text back and forth will likely take longer. PM us your number and when you'd like us to call. We'll go through the list of changes you made and what ones are necessary to get you back on the trail with our skis!
We look forward to hearing from you!

When I had the mountain skis on my XTX, I thought they worked great in powder, unfortunately I didn't like them on hard pack. I guess everything is a compromise. You may have the perfect skis for the right conditions, just have to put your snow boots on snow-days and your running shoes other days.

The thing with the mountain skis is you cant run too aggressive of a carbide runner. I am running qualipieces cobra heads with the anti darting plate built in. They are 6". A shaper bar or anything more than 6" I think would be too agressive for these skis. As right now I have no push or darting. Flotation is superb but the deep keel acts funny on the crust. I wanted different skis as the mountain ones arent the sharpest looking and wanted something with better manners on the crust. I think the c&a xtx skis would be a good match for this sled with a 4.5" runner. The shallower keel on the xtx ski should keep steering bearable and good control. I think the xt's deep keel may be a bit much for all but the most aggressive riders and the xtx be the better choice. I am going to try and get these curves to work but I need extreme adjustments which would hinder performance in th cornering and ride quality department and that wont work for me. I feel my darting would be worse with more aggressive carbide runners which are badly needed as is. Going down a plowed road with the skis turned all the way and going straight isnt the ride I had hoped for. No center carbide on the runners prevents any bite on tar or ice, almost like having no runners at all.

Unfortunately, we haven't worked up a steadfast adjustment plan for the '09 Nytro's yet. We need some more seat time on our SE before we settle on anything. At this point due to the front end changes, we feel more comfortable with a conventional carbide up front at least. More to come in the next couple weeks!
