Good Day All,

New sled to me. Came in pieces, got it running, sounded great, ran great.

Went for a quick test run around house, sled died, found seized primary. Only 180 degrees of rotation. Smashed spark plug.

Suspect a fastener was hiding in the throttle body and made it past a valve.

Any opinions on being able to do the topend in the machine? It was a low rpm seize and I am hoping piston is salvageable and that the rod isn't bent.

Opinions or info is welcomed, I did download the shop manual from the site. Thanks for that.

That plug sure don't look good. I would have said to have a look with a borescope but unless it's really small, it won't fit the spark plug hole. If it did lock up hard because of a bolt that fell in, it could have bent the rod. Only once you've opened it you'll be able to see the extent of the damage.

This just sucks big time.

Well here is the update. Who can recommend a long block option?

I had one head bolt that would not come out and had to drill it out. Not sure what else could have caused this other than contaminants getting in through intake? Or could a valve head have failed and come off leading to the damage.

Who knows but I need a motor now. At least the topend and a piston or 2.

I say the whole engine is toast. Head is thrashed, Piston has a hole that probably sent shrapnel into the block, the connecting rod and crank may be compromised. I'd say your best option is to find a good used complete engine. Don't know what the availability of used parts is like in your neck of the woods though.
