Went to the dealer today for parts and started talking about 2010 models and was told they ordered 16 new sleds but the mfgr was holding back on shipments and they are only sending him SIX. Dealers are asked to keep there inventory on line so that potential buyers could lokate the sled through there dealer. anyone else getting this from there dealer. Not having a showroom full to choose from or even admire kind of sucks.

:o| :o|

Yamaha cut production. I talked to my dealer buddy Kip in Greenland MI. And he only got two or three XTX's. He's looking to buy anything he can from other dealers!

He said the pricing on Yamaha's auction for dealers is thru the roof. The guys that got their sleds cheap early should consider themselves lucky.

Gonna increase the value on our used stuff bigtime!

This is true. I heard this back in August. I am glad I got my used 07 looks like the value ought to stay the same for awhile if this is the case.

Another great marketing trick...

I read on here someone who didn't get the Vector he had ordered. What's up with that? They could at least build as many as there were orders for? :dunno:

Same thing I heard here. On Saturday I was at the dealer, and another dealer was calling him for XTX, and RTX models. He told him would not give up what he had since there are so few coming in. Between Yamaha's being so dependable, a lack of sled production, internet sales, and the recession; should be a tough year for smaller dealers.

Create a shortage to keep price up, stave off interested buyers, and ticked off buyers go another brand...yeah, smart.

yamaha is cutting production 15% through the next year. over 200 honda dealerships have closed in the past year. my work is shutting the doors for good at the end of october #$%&* . we were rated #1 in the state, made the top 15 for the northeast, and in the top 100 for the nation. go figure. at least i can ride more this winter

That sucks! people think this is a marketing scam to make more money, or charge more for this years models. Which is incorrect. Why would you want to sell a smaller amount of sleds with a higher markup to a pissed off consumer. When you can sell more sleds at a little less of a profit on each. Which will create more repeat customers, more clothing, and gear sales, and potential future repairs, or warranty work. Figure out how much profit one needs to make on a small batch of sleds to cover daily overhead, and expenses at one of these shops. It isn't there. I also think that dealers selling sleds at a minimal mark up is also a double edge sword. Guys hope for rebates, or gear options when purchasing new. When these aren't there. They can shop the interenet to get lower pricing, or to beat up their local guy. That and guys doing the bulk of their own mod's to save a buck all causes lower profits to these dealers. It is a trickle down recession that hurts everyone, and makes it hard to stay brand loyal. Especially if you are at one of those multi brand dealers like a Trackside for example. Where you can compare pricing, and perks from three brands. Which may make you sway away from your current brand.

Besides the higher pricing is there a lack of sleds in Canada also, or just the USA?

Well maybe this will sway my debate about whether to put up my 06 apex gt for sale......my core group of riders have been dwindling the last couple with my best friend getting out before last season. Sold the wife's 06 vector when we had our boy so that hurt as well. Hard to get exited about sledding when I couldn't even get 200 miles last year. Only good thing about that is the sled is still very low miles ~2500 considering its year. Bad thing about it is this is my hands down best sled I've ever owned, but how long to keep it? It sucks.

This whole issue is very smart by Yamaha and very, very good for owners of Yamaha sleds. Your sleds will hold their value! And for a guy like me that has nearly 20 G's stuck into Yamaha sleds, this is what I want. I got a great deal on an APEX by buying it in August while I still had my Polaris, and now it appears I made a very sound business decision. I almost decided to wait it out until early January to find a 2010 Vector cheap. Now I'm glad I gambled and didn't do that. The only potential loser in all this is the dealer, but if he holds pricing on 2010's and doesn't discount he can make just as much money selling 10 sleds as he would have on 20 discounted units. I am a Cost Accountant, and I can tell you this is very, very smart what Yamaha has done.

The dealership here in winnipeg canada just received i beleive 25, 2009 nytros but no xtx's, and it seemed to me that there was a trailer full of the 2010's out back when i went back to be nosy. Prices are ridiculous out here though. Maybe someone else from canada can tell you more.
As far as i know it seems about equal to other years, besides the insane prices. :o|

:rules

My dealer had his orders cut too. He said it will benefit him because he and other dealers want to get rid of any remaining 09 or 08 models. Maybe Yamaha will give us a new Apex next year if dealers have all their inventory cleared out.

I think there is a lot of rumors and speculation here.
If Yami doesn't keep up with the rest of the sled manufactors they'll loose out.
There is lot's of good sleds out there to be had from them. As much as I like my Yami's I wouldn't hesitate to go to the other side if they ever did such marketing and price increases.

My dealer had his orders cut in half, He will only be receiving 10 sleds this year, 4 of which are already spoken for.
