reay like other people on here said they did do big mountian changes what a lot of moutian guys wanted and pick up a little bit more of the mountain market from others on the apex they fixed the hand warmers(well see) new wheels last year it was the heat extanger there just improving on perfection to move some new ones do you really think the apex it out dated i ride dads all the time and it i would say it was made ahead of its time i mean we have never been passed and if people know how to set these sled up they handle awsome i mean just last week we were racing these new xp's at 70 to 90 mph and dad passed one on the inside because the pushed into the turn so bad and this sceems to be the case with all the revs (or cats poos they usally try to race us then pull over) we come up im not very impressed and as far as weight i dont really understand that either because the apex feels far from heavy when your riding it it's like doo has put such a mind state out there that sleds have to be under 400 pounds that people who really are not hard core sledders just think yamahas heavy they suck its like a mass panic situation where someone says bomb and everyone runs but there is really no bomb people just follow. and do you think that in a global ression it would be a wise dession to relase a totally mind blowing sled that no one can afford to buy or maby just fix a couple compliants raise the price a little so people say o well i dont really need the 2010 i just get the left over 09 or 08 and save some money so they can clear out the dealerships for a new sled next year or when ever it comes because theres people that just buy new everyear anyway i mean they dont have to sell hundreds of thousand of apexs any more they defintley got there moneys wort out of that chassis because the dont do big changes every year thats what yamaha does there smart so at leat maby well get are new sled next year but for now im not dissapoined any neither should others really

You know I would be perfectly happy if they left the Apex MTX as is, but squeeze another 20-30 horse out of it with either more cc's or electronic tuning, injectors, etc. and shaved 30-50 pounds...use the new Nytro Mtn Air rear suspension, lighten the seat (a.k.a., Mountain Mod), lightwieght bars, maybe some kind of tubular bulk head instead of cast, regular Wahl style drivers instead of the four wheel setup they have now. Really I like what I have now...

I hear you.

It is all marketing. I find it really amusing how people buy into it. Weight does make a difference but not as much as manufacturers lead us to believe. Yamaha's stand is performance, fit and finish, reliability and low cost of ownership. Who else can say that.

I find it funny, Canam (brp) entered the ATV market with the more power is better concept. It put everyone up in arms and no longer measured by cc size. It is all, my quad has this much HP and his has this much. Everyone forgets that it does not matter how fast and powerful or light it is. I know people of 250 cc machine quads that can ride them faster then people that can affor 800cc quads. Same with sleds.

I think it was wise not to go crazy releasing new models this year. There are a lot of dealers out there that have lots of leftovers. Really? How many people can AFFORD or are willing to buy a new sled this year? When I snow checked my SE last spring I didn't know I was going to get laid from my job. (temporarly.) If I had known I would have kept my old sled. and now that the snow has melted where I live, they are really going to be a tough sell. (no temptation or money.) And the season is only 1/2 over. At least fuel prices are relativly low.

rage man, your point is well taken. I'm contimplating a new sled and now with what was released I'll probably go with an '09 with the cash incentives, save a couple grand over the 2010. Seeing where the prices are now I can't imagine what a new generation Apex would go for when released. Over 12,000? I know i'm lucky to have a job, and in this economy its tough to justify that kind of coin, at least for me. Then again the manufacturer has to make his profit.

Very well said rageman. My only gripe about the 2010s is the pricing. I really like the improvements made to the 2010 vector but with a diving economy adding $1200 to the price of the 2010 model over the 09 is just going to push consumers toward the leftover models ... or maybe that is the intent ... some how I think not though.

did you notice you can snowcheck a sled without giving a actual deposit...

No, but that is very smart....

Every other brand requires a deposit.
