I did that. We dont pick on people because of threir age or race. That is descrimination. And there is no name calling!! People who do that will get a 3 day vacation. I should not have to delete or edit, heated discussions are OK, but respect needs to be part of the deal.
Another problem there is dyno tests have shown (Supertuner I think) that gutting will give you a loss of power, 2 HP I think it is.number1kyster said:Anyone ever try gutting there stock exhasut?
I think a number of land owners were going to pull access to their property. So WI and some of the others may have gone a bit extreme, and may have had to, to keep the trail system intact.

Mike,
So you don't care if people disrespect the sport
Or insult you buy telling you to take your meds?...insinuating that I'm an old person?
I don't need any hint. If more people had 1/10 of the passion for maintaining the trail system like I do, this sport wouldn't be going in the direction that it is...downhill.
I'm deeply involved in the sport...can you all out there look yourself in the mirror and tell youself..."I'm doing my part to keep the trails open?"
I spend my personal time helping you folks have trails to ride, and somebody tells me to take my meds.. = .....no respect for the volunteers who are key to the success of this sport!
OK I feel better now..have a nice day, and don't hit anything out there OK?

My humble opinion as a member (not singling out any individual)
Anytime one resorts to personal attacks, you have ruined any intelligent posts you may have had in the thread. It is no way to win an argument, honestly, think about it, you have blown any chance of enlightening someone.
As a land owner in the WI northwoods myself, and having an extension trail between my property and highway W. Loud sleds in the winter with the windows closed have woken me up in the middle of the night. Loud Harleys in the summer with the windows open tend not to. Why?
Because the road is on the other side of the treeline and the other side of the ditch, road vehicle noise is simply not as loud in my cabin.
Undecided does make a good point. The trail system is fragile, it is not like our public road system.
As a performance enthusiast I have modded many sleds with pipes over the years. This is probably the first one I wont. Why? Because the Apex exhaust is quite a bit lighter than the RX exhaust. Plus it is hard to make a meaningful HP gain, as the stock exhaust is pretty much maximized for performance. Gutting will loose you a couple HP.
And I can be a rebel too. Lke Yammiman states, if I want to put headers on my car and a free flo exhaust, well that is what I am going to do.
But it is a different ball game for me this year with sleds. The weight savings are not as great as they have been, neither is HP gains and the fines for being too loud are pretty hefty.
Is my post above a reasonable argument? Perhaps.
I didnt offend anybody, and there is some logic to it.
Did I win anybody over to my side? Hard to say, but I havent gotten people all pissed off and fighting against my point of view either. And that is key to getting my point across.
The biggest mistake people make on the internet is thinking you can force people into your way of thinking. Never never ever is that going to happen.
Am I going to fight with you if you disagree with my opinion?
Hell nooo. Either you get my point or you don't. Trying to force people into understaning my viewpoint as a member is a complete waste of my time. Now if this thread evolves into something I can continue to add some value to, then sure, I'll post up again!

.......IMO it's people like you that are ruining the sport for us people who work hard to keep the trails open......
This the remark that I took offense to - I'm a lifelong member of the MSA and still send them money every year - I've helped clean the trails near my cabin in the U.P. - I would help more if I had more free time or lived up there - I've nearly come to blows with guys out on the trails that are drinking, throwing trash on the ground, or just plain riding with no respect for anyone or anything else but themselves - to imply that just because someone has aftermarket exhaust on their snowmobile, they are ruining the sport is rediculous - I believe you can have aftermarket exhaust (on anything) and not bother anyone as long as you know the law (db restrictions) and respect sensitive areas - I know more about the laws now than when I first started reading this post and I have always respected sensitive areas - I don't feel I was trying to shove my opinion down anyone's throat and I don't appreciate being accused of being a negative force to the sport just because I don't agree with someone else's opinion! - maybe it's time for a GROUP HUG!!!
