wonder if anyone got a chance to read the new snogoer mag. letter from the editor mentioned the abnormally high instances of "nuisance" problems in this years crop of test rides. he then goes on at the end, of a paragraph of problems, to say, oh yeah we dont have any yamahas here thats why!! the meat of the article praises yamahas warranty stating good products go with good warranties! he then caps off with a hope for a day [far away] that all four manufacturers will have trouble free sleds.

i guess i write this in jest of all the people who jumped the blue ship this year. hope they had back up sleds, or durable lazy-boys, while my gas card gets maxxed out.

Just read the same article. Good to know with confidence, that my Apex will last another 5,000 miles with no major problems. Dealer just replaced my exhaust donuts, both y pipes, clamps and RA cable all under my YES warranty. None of which would have kept me from riding anyways.

if you are waiting for a trouble free sled , you are just kidding yourself. its the nature of the beast. freezing cold, moisture, poor maintenance by most, it's not a design or manufacture problem.

I agree treat any of them bad and they will fail, treat most of them good and they will still require maint and upkeep.

I thought with the new sleds it would be gas - go - putaway - gas - go.

I have since come to my senses and realized there is a lot of tinkering to be done to run 1000-2000+ miles a year reliabily.

My apex just rolled to 13000 miles. Not trouble free, but all wear and matinance items. tracks, slides, bearings, belts, brakes, many of each, exhaust dounuts twice.
Nothing yet that caused me not to get home. Just one hand grip stoped working and I don't rememebr how many adjuster cables, that are things I don't consider wear items that went wrong with this sled. Better than my last 2 rx1's.

It's funny that I should read that right after Yamaha denied my claim for cracked/broken suspension parts. :o|

Put some of these on this year but the conditions i rode in were not too bad so no idea how well they worked. Still on the same sliders from the end of last season.....

I agree.

Sleds operate in a very harsh environment.

But Yamaha motors are noted for being very dependable. To me, and many others, that is a big deal. Added weight is less of an issue when they are designed to run in the case of the apex/ rx1 with like 26,000 miles before a valve adjustment is needed.

And that is the issue I don't like about Yamaha. They are stingy with their warranties.

Was your sled under the YES warranty?

If it's got tires, tits or tracks, it's gonna give you trouble.
Based on my experience & friends' experience, the Yams for all thier faults are w/out question, the most trouble-free compared to the other mfg's.
